Food Network casting for a new show

They might be creating a new show, or it might just be a new season of “Food Network Challenge.” The casting notice from the Food Network (check it out at http://casting.citylightstv.com/ChefCastingapply.htm) doesn’t talk about the name of the show and the description does sound like “Challenge” material.

The network is looking for professional chefs in the New York City area who can work under time constraints to be the best of four per episode.

More than one “Food Network Star” this season

Aaron McCargo, Jr.’s show “Big Daddy’s House” has already gotten off the ground at the Food Network. The “Next Food Network Star” winner earned a contract with the channel this season, but he’s not the only one.

Runner-up Adam Gertler is also in production for a series that will air in late September. The show “Will Work for Food” is supposed to marry Gertler’s sense of adventure with his sense of humor.

One of the episodes, according to reports, will give Gertler a chance to live life as a dog food taste-tester.

Top-four finisher Kelsey Nixon is also pitching shows to networks and thinks her win as Next’s “fan favorite” will help her out. There’s even an option to reunite Nixon with fellow competitor Shane Lyons for a program.

In addition to a set of kitchen appliances and a $2,000 Sears gift card, Nixon learned in the fan favorite win that she has a lot of people rooting her on. The show’s producer, Bob Tuschman, has said he even received hate mail after Nixon was eliminated.

Though he was eliminated in the second week of competition, Kevin McRoberts landed a spokesman deal with Frank’s RedHot Cayenne Pepper Sauce.
