It's No 'Bloody Shame' to Sip an 'Evil Princess'

A virgin drinks bar — what a smart idea. We thought there might be a market for this a few years ago, while we were pregnant and in need of fun things to sip while sober.

Someone else brought the idea to fruition. Cassis Exotic Drinks & Tea in Plano, Texas, is billed in its writeup in The Dallas Morning News as “a cheery, hip, nonalcoholic drink spot.” What’s cheery about a virgin beverage, you might ask? Well, we’d love to sip an Evil Princess — “a zesty green-apple and grapefruit juice cocktail.” The name alone brings our mood up a few notches.

Besides their own concoctions, Cassis will mix up your favorite cocktail minus the booze. Some of our family members would find this silly. In fact, said family members won’t let anyone in their presence ask a bartender for a “Virgin Mary,” i.e. a Bloody without the vodka — they insist you call such a beverage a “Bloody Shame.”
