Emeril to Shutter Atlanta Outpost

Last call for Emeril Lagasse’s Atlanta restaurant will take place next Wednesday, April 30, according to published reports.
Emeril named new management in the restaurant one year ago, both in the kitchen and front of the house, but whatever changes the new team was able to implement apparently didn’t spare Emeril’s Atlanta from closure. After four years in the city, the restaurant never gained traction despite an apparently desirable Buckhead location.
Local restaurateur Tom Catherall pins it on the celebrity chef’s absence. “I guarantee if Emeril were in that kitchen, it would not be closing,” Catherall told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I’m in my restaurants every day. It’s a relationship you develop with the diner. You’ve got to physically be in your store for it to succeed.”
The past six months have been challenging for the chef who put the Food Network on the map, with the cable outlet canceling his show and now being forced to close one of his eponymous restaurants.
