Wine Retailers Group Launches Blog on Shipping Laws

Swralogo2 The Specialty Wine Retailers Association has announced the launch of new online efforts to fight for less restrictive wine shipping laws throughout the United States. The group's "Wine Without Borders" blog serves as a news and advocacy resource on the issue of direct wine shipping.  Founded in 2006 to break down state barriers and create a national wine market, the SWRA hired its first executive director, Tom Wark, in early 2007.

"Consumers and retailers are up against a multi-billion dollar distributor industry that consistently puts out misinformation about wine shipping that demands a response and demands correction," said Wark. "The new SWRA website and blog is that response and delivers access to multiple educational sources that consumers and retailers can use to see the challenge they face from those who work day and night to restrict access to wine for their own benefit."

Brick and mortar retailers, on-line retailers, auction houses and wine clubs have joined the association, including Ambrosia, Dean & Deluca and Geerlings & Wade.
